Ladies and Gentlemen!

And so we begin. Let me introduce to you Capital Ideas, a new magazine about Moscow and finance. Don`t worry: not the finance Karl Marx was talking about in his Das Kapital. Moscow does not heed his advice any longer. It is currently busy making money.

Moscow and finance have always gone hand in hand. As of today the city has accumulated much more money than ever before. Moscow is Russia`s centre of finance, with 90% of the country`s money made and spent here. There can be no question – this is the right time to turn Moscow into an international financial centre. At least we believe this to be true, otherwise we would not have launched this magazine. We are optimistic that it will contribute to the process of making Moscow an international financial centre.

This is definitely not an easy task. But here in Moscow it is true to say that nothing is easy. Especially in winter, with the snow, ice, and cold…Even we Muscovites can`t get used to it, so what must it be like for you, dear overseas businessmen! We can’t change the weather, but what we can do is improve the business climate in Moscow to attract more investment from abroad and encourage businesses on both sides to cooperate more actively. The city is ready for this. The fact that Capital Ideas will be published under the support of the Department for Foreign Economic Activity and International Relations of the Moscow City government speaks for itself.

We are open to all kinds of interesting capital ideas as we are going to make Moscow more convenient for business and more comfortable for living. Business is not just about dollars, euros and pounds. It is also about the people who make money. Moscow will really only transform itself into an international financial centre when John, Marcello, Mustafa and Wei-Min are comfortable in our city.

We hope that you like Capital Ideas. Give us your feedback and send us your comments. This will all help to make Moscow a better place to work and live.
