For the benefit of residents from two capitals

In October, the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin and the Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós signed a cooperation program between the capitals of Russia and Hungary for 2016-2019.

The document provides for the development of cooperation in the sphere of urban planning, construction and reconstruction, transport and the development of the road and transport infrastructure, healthcare and medicine, education and tourism.

“In spite of the challenges we are all aware of, our cooperation continues to develop. I would like to thank you and your colleagues for working with us to prepare a cooperation program between our cities for the next three years. I am confident that it will take our cooperation to a new level in sectors such as urban planning, design, transportation policy, traffic flow management, intelligent transportation systems, healthcare, education, culture and tourism. I hope that the document we are going to sign today will be beneficial for residents of both Budapest and Moscow,” Sergey Sobyanin said.

“For our country’s government, it is extremely important to establish good relations between our cities. Hungary is a country that fought hard for its sovereignty and we highly appreciate our good relations with our Russian colleagues,” István Tarlós noted.

István Tarlós also recalled that an alley on the bank of the river in Budapest has been named after the Russian capital. “The entire world will know about this, because we are hosting a swimming championship and those who come to visit the city will be going for walks along the alley,” the Mayor of Budapest said and invited Sergey Sobyanin to visit the championship. István Tarlós also invited the Moscow government to take part in the autumn festival CAFE Budapest 2017, as well as in the spring and summer festivals in 2018.
