Marseille and Moscow sign a cooperation program
A cooperation program between the Russian capital and Marseille for 2020-2023 was signed by Moscow Government Minister and Head of the Department for Foreign Economic Activity and International Relations Cheremin and Deputy Mayor of Marseille for International Relations Jean Roatta.
The ceremony was held as part of the conference “Investment Opportunities in the Aix-Marseille-Provence Region,” which was held in the Moscow City Hall on October 29.
In his speech, Sergey Cheremin pointed out that although the partnership between the two cities was only launched recently (a Moscow delegation first came to Marseille in 2017), it is developing very quickly. Two years ago, the first cooperation program that encompasses almost every sphere of city management was signed. Relations between Moscow and Marseille are developing the most quickly in the sphere of tourism. According to the Minister, Days of Moscow took place in Marseille for the first time in June this year.
“Today, French companies are some of the biggest investors in the Moscow economy and are taking an active interest in projects that are being carried out or prepared for implementation in the city. Over the past few years, our French partners have invested almost 5 billion dollars in the establishment of real production facilities in our city. Moscow is implementing a large-scale industrial program under which a favorable business environment is being created in the capital, and we are confident that companies from the Aix-Marseille-Provence region will discover great investment opportunities here,” Sergey Cheremin said.
Jean Roatta said that the launch of direct Moscow-Marseille flights was a big step forward in the cooperation between the two cities. According to the Deputy Mayor, this significantly increased the number of tourists and simplified the development of socio-economic and business contacts between the two cities.
